Architecture professor to exhibit in Budapest

Submitted by Thom Jackson

Peter Magyar

Peter Magyar, professor of architecture in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, received an invitation to mount an exhibition for a full month in October 2017 at the Palace of Arts, a prestigious art gallery in the capital city of Budapest, Hungary.

The temporary title of the exhibition is "Roots of Infinity." The exhibit will feature Magyar's drawings, videos and will contain boards by Italian architect Giovanni Giaconi, depicting his paintings of the villas of Andrea Palladio. The exhibit also will feature the topological transformations of the same villas, done by 15 of Magyar's students, during the time of their foreign study in the Italian hill-town of Orvieto.

Magyar's book "Palladian Space-Neurons and Other Roots of Infinity," published in 2016, will serve as the catalog for the exhibition, with inserts of Hungarian translations, to explain the process of the topological transformations.
